INTRODUCTION

It just wouldn't be HardWar without a little heartlessness from time to time. Revenge is sweet and we all want it at some point or other. Below are some of the most irritating, best thought-out tortures available on Titan. Keep these in mind when another pilot has really pissed you off.

DISABLING A MOTH

A Moth must generally be disabled before may of the Cruel tactics can be used. Unlike most fly and shoot games, HardWar doesn't have a single weapon that directly disables a Moth. It does, however, have weapons combinations that have a similiar effect.

Needed Gear

The weapons needed are:

Power Leech -- This missile drains a Moth's power reserves. It's devastating to a regular celled Moth. It sucks out their power keeping them from either moving or shooting. It isn't as effective on Fusion Cell powered Moths, but it slows them down for a little while. Great follow up to stripping shields.

Plasma Kannon -- The Plasma Kannon strips shields at a quick, steady rate. It also destroys all Moth CPU function rendering the HUD and targeting disabled.

Pulse Laser -- Destroys the Moth's weapns' system so they can't attack you. Strips shields, too, but not as well as the Plasma Kannon.

FireBurst -- The only weapon on Titan that directly attacks the Moth's engine preventing the Moth from moving.

Laser Turret -- The weakest "hit" on Titan. Good for percision work so that you deal damage without totally destroying your enemy.

Disabling A Moth

Begin disabling a Moth by attacking it as usual. You'll notice eventually that your enemy is escaping or moving slowly. This is a good indicator that he's recieved substantial damage and is ready to be disabled.

Don't try to diable a Moth you couldn't just as easily destroy. You might get a suprise.

Prevent the Moth from moving by stripping its shields with Plasma Kannon to just below 50%. Now use a FireBurst to attack the engine and Power Leech to drain available power. If the Moth is still moving too much, use another FireBurst. This'll stop him. Don't use more than two FireBurst or you're quite apt to destroy your enemy before you've had your fun with him. You can continue with Power Leeches as they don't damage the structure of your enemy's Moth.

Use Plasma Kannon to wipe out his CPU function. You can do this before firing FireBurst if you want. It's really a matter of personal taste.

You can disable your enemy's weapons with the Pulse Laser if you need to. Now it's time for some of the fun below.

THE NAYJAY

First introduced to me personally by the pilot NayJay, himself. Disable the enemy Moth making sure to get in lots of Pulse Laser hits in to disable his weapons. Now gain distance and approach your prey nose-to-nose. Fire the occassional laser blast for maximum irritation. Touch noses and use the chat function to say "heeheehee". Now slowly laser your opponent to death.

CHAFFE FENCE

Yours truly, Captain Zedo, developed this and used it against Ouch as a follow up to a tunnel fight. Begin by trapping your prey in a tunnel and disabling him. Use only one FireBurst and switch to Laser Turret to slow your opponent to a crawl without fully disabling his engines. Strip all shields and do some hull damage with Laser Turret. Fire chaffe behind and in front of him. He'll fly through it and kill himself. It takes some percise damage to get this to work. Several layers of chaffe are recommended to insure the effect.

Note: Filling a tunnel with chaffe ain't a bad idea defensively during any escape.

Bouncing

The absolute favorite of true sadists (Dirty Little Johnny). Disable your enemy. Fly directly above him and use downward directional thrust to bump him to death. It's a lot more fun if your enemy is close to the ground. Bump him down and the ground will bump him back up.

A similiar tactic can bounce your enemy off of buildings, etc. If your shields get low, duck in a hangar to build them up. Your disabled enemy will still be there when you get back. I think leaving and coming back adds to the overall level of cruelty of this technique. It allows a brief glimmer of hope to the enemy pilot.

HANGAR BUMPING

This is a little more dangerous than the above techniques because your prey is not disabled. It's fun nonetheless and should be tried at least once. Just wait until your enemy is exiting a hangar and bump right into him preventing him from exiting. The hangar will eventually destroy him to clear the hangar bay. Firing a GroundBase first is a good idea.

Keep bumping him and preventing him from leaving the hangar. Try to bump his nose at an angle so he's turned sideways in the hangar bay. In seven seconds the hangar will destroy him for not clearing the bay quickly enough.

Warning: Don't go into the bay yourself. You will get stuck along with your enemy.

MULTI BASING

This is a simple, but very irritating tactic. You don't need to disable your target. Just GroundBase your target in the course of normal combat. Follow up with another GroundBase as soon as your enemy seems to be getting his bearings. Repeat. Three GroundBase are usually enough to destroy him. The real irritation to this technique is your enemy's complete loss of control over his Moth and his destiny.

This is good for enemies exiting hangars, too. Just keep GroundBasing them so they can't exit the hangar bay as per the previous technique. In seven seconds. The hangar will kill them to clear them out of the way.

SWEET REVENGE

This technique isn't cruel as much as it is effective at killing. It is best used on pilots who enjoy the above techniques with sadistic glee. GroundBase your opponent and follow-up immediately with a Devastator. Game Over for enemy. It's very hard to evade this combination once the GroundBase has been fired.
